Introducing...BlackJac; Our New Boy!!!

Thought I'd share our new guy with all of you! He will be the sire to many of our showpigs for all of your fairs and shows in 2010. He is a gentle giant that's for sure. He is a sweetheart and has the best temperment. Unfortunately, I am not a great picture taker let alone a great picture taker of moving objects so I didn't get too many pictures of him. But he is as wide in the shoulders as he is in the hams. He stands extra wide and is a big boned hog. We look forward to seeing his offspring this January and February. We do things different here in Idaho!

At our fair this year we had adult showmanship. It was so much fun. We used it as a fundraiser. Holly Bean on the left showed beef growing up so that's what she was doing here. Arland dressed like his boys and actually did pretty well. Neither won but it sure was fun!

At the Cassia County fair we ended up having 6 out of the 9 pigs in the final drive. In Worland, Wyoming we had 3 of the 4 final pigs in the final drive. There were a lot of class winners and some seconds in class.

We hope that you all enjoyed raising and showing your pigs this year. We look forward to seeing you at our sale in late March or early April!

Happy Birthday to Arland!!!

I doubt many people read this blog but for those of you who do, today is Arland's 39th birthday. Yep, next year he'll be over the hill!!! Glad I'm six years younger than him. 30 just about did me in a few years ago. If you have time today, call him on his cell which is permanently attached to his ear (208-650-8131) and wish him a happy birthday. He works so hard and does a lot for our family. We love him so much and want his day to be great! Happy Birthday hon!!!

Mini-Cassia Junior Showdown

We had a great show on Saturday July 11th. Thank you to all of our sponsors which were, Stokes, Valley Wide Co-Op of Jerome and Rupert, King's, Ark Animal Hospital, Rupert Animal Clinic, Dot Foods, Honor Show Feeds, and Mac-B-Jac Showpigs. A big thank you goes out to the Minidoka County Fairgrounds and Greg Walton for helping us with the facilities. Thank you to our judge Rolf Schuman and his son Matt. They came all the way from Smithfield, Utah and were willing to do the show for free so more money could go back to the kids. And last but not least, thank you to all of you great parents and kids who came to the show. We hope you had a fun day and look forward to next year. Please let us know if there is any way we could improve the show. I apologize in advance of not starting the show on time. I was a little slow on the computer end of the deal.
